theatre first-hand this summer, as part of two intensive three-week programs:
The BPP has a long history of theatre education programs,
including its annual Mini-Play
Festival, the School
of Dramatic Arts (SODA), and the Parks and Playwrights camp, part
of the Parks Department’s Kids’ City program. The YTE Musical
program made its debut at the BPP three years ago with the successful
musical Fiddler on the Roof, Jr., followed by
Once on This Island Jr. and the YTE Shakespeare program made
its debut two years ago with Shakespeare’s The Tempest
to sold out houses.
Rehearsals and performances for both the YTE-Musical
and Shakespeare sessions will be held at the BPP, 107 W. 9th Street (between College and Walnut)
and participants ages 9-16 may register by calling 334-1188 or coming
by the BPP theatre.
Tuition is $450 for the first session and $425 for
the second session.
Each session is held Mondays-Friday 9am-4pm and includes
performances for a paying audience with proceeds going to support the
BPP scholarship fund. Scholarships are available for students with financial
needs and parents may inquire about scholarships by calling the BPP.
Those interested are encouraged to sign up soon as space is limited
and this is one of the BPP’s most popular programs. |
