Rainy Day Fund

For most of its history, the BPP has operated on a razor thin margin. Every funding crisis has triggered special fund raising. Generous gifts will improve the BPP's operating balance by earning interest that can become part of regular income and will create a principal amount that can be tapped to meet unexpected funding demands.

In September 2007, a long time supporter of the Project donated $50,000 to the BPP. As a result of this gift, more than an additional $30,000 has been raised. The BPP seeks to reach a goal of $200,000 by 2011.

"The staff and board of the BPP are very excited by this gift," says BPP Board President Sonja Johnson. "It allows us, for the first time in our history, to look forward realistically to a time when we can focus on our artistic and educational missions without the constant anxiety of not knowing where the next month's rent will come from. We extend our deep gratitude to our anonymous donor."

The BPP is poised to reach out to the wider Bloomington community, emphasizing the unique new plays mission of the BPP and the high profile that the BPP occupies across the nation.
